1) 655 MW dual Fuel Based power project at Paguthan in Bharuch District:

Location of Project : Village Paguthan,
Ta & Dist : Bharuch
Capacity : 655 MW
Fuel : Neptha and Gas
Technology : Combined cycle

          With a view to establishing this power project in joint private Sector, Gujarat Torrent Energy Corporation Ltd. was established by M/S. Torrent Export Ltd. & Gujarat Power Corporation. The share capital of which was comprised of 12% from Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd., 46 % from Torrent Export Ltd., 28% from Power Gen and 14% from siemens’. Then on the disinvestments being made by Torrent Export Ltd., & Siemens’ Ltd in behalf of power Gen,

          The Power Gen Company is having 8% of the partnership at present. Gujarat Power Corporation has made investment of Rs. 86.36 crores and the procedure for making disinvestments thereof is in progress at present.

2) 375 MW Lignite based power Project at Padwa Village in Bhavnagar district:

Project Site :Village- Padwa, Taluka-Ghogha, Dist. Bhavnagar

Capacity :375 MW

Fuel   :Lignite

Technology :Circulating Fludized Bed  Combustion (C.F.B.C.)

Estimated Project Cost: 315.7 Millian Dollars + Rs. 475.23 Crores.

Land :The process of land acquisition has been already completed.

No- objection Certifications as mentioned below have been obtained : 

1. Gujarat Electricity Board.

2. Gujarat Pollution Control Board.

3. Gujarat Maritime Board.

4. Airport Authority of India.

5. Ministry of Environment and Forest.

M/S. Reliance Industries Ltd has been given the letter of intent on 30/12/1999 on international Competitive base after being selected the same for augmenting this power-project. The discussion with GUVNL on the main issues relating to power-purchase agreement has been over and power-purchase contract based thereon has been assigned to GUVNL. The discussion thereof is likely to be over. with a view to supply Lignite to this Power Project joint discussions are being held with GPCL, GMDC and Reliance. It has been planned to commission this power project in 2005. The discussion on various issues relating to the implementation contract is being held between GPCL and M/s Reliance.

3) 615 MW Gas based power project at Pipavav in Amreli District.

Estimated Project Cost : Rs. 2141 Crores.

No Objection Certificates mentioned below have been obtained from :

1. Gujarat Electricity Board.

2. Gujarat Pollution Control Board.

3. Gujarat Maritime Board.

4. Airport Authority of India.

5. Techno-economic clearance (Gas based) of Central Electricity Authority.

          AOU has been executed between GPCL and KRIBHCO on 6-5-1999 in terms of the decision to grant approval in principle to establish 615 MW power project by KRIBHCO- the public sector of the Central Govt. It has been decided to provide this project the gas leakage allotted to Gujarat. It has planned to commission this power project by June-2005. The Govt. of India has made allotment of 2.25 million cubic metre gas per day. The said allotment is insufficient to this power project therefore, the High power committee has taken decision to preserve the capacity of 500 MW at present and to enhance the said capacity when the gas for it becomes available. It has been planned to make investment of GPCL upto 11% in the share capital of the company newly constituted. KRIBHCO has taken up process to be registered as KRIBHCO ENERGY CORPORATION in Gujarat. The discussions of major head for power purchase contract is likely to be over. since the distance from the Tapti field from where the gas would be available to this project to pipavav is farther, the cost of sub-sea-pipeline seems to be reduced its maintenance capacity.

Discussion is being held with GAIL and GSPCL: for the Conveyance of Tapti Gas allotted.

4) 156.1 MW Gas & Neptha Based Power Project at Village Hazira in Surat District.

Estimated project cost     :        Rs. 574 Crore

Main concern               :        Gujarat State Energy Generation Co. Ltd., (Subsidiary company of Gujarat State petro co. Ltd.,)

Natural gas has been provided by GSPC. This project has been commissioned on the commercial base in open cycle in December-2001. Gujarat Power Corporation has made investment of Rs. 10 crore in this power project.

5) 500 MW Imported coal base & Power Project at Mundra in Kutch District.

          With a view to establishing this project in private sector, aggregate 10 concerns having eligibility have been identified on International Competitive Bidding. Two out of these concerns have purchased Tenders of quotations. Since no bid was subscribed till the last date of returning the bid, it has been taken decision in the meeting of high power committee not to forward this project.

6) Mini Hydro power project.

          It has been planned to make power generation by smaller Hydro power projects by exploiting energy contained in height of water quantity of Branch canals from the various dams being constructed on the river.
