To incorporate private joint sector participation for the
purpose of augmenting power generation capacity of Gujarat.

To prepare the Techno-economic feasibility reports of various
projects.

To obtain all the statutory and administrative approvals
required for the projects identified and to acquire the lands
required therefore.

To prepare master plan for power system of the Gujarat State.

To monitor various power schemes undertaken by public
enterprise and private enterprise.
In addition to this, the main objectives includes
establishment of Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Authority and it
has been discharged function as convenes secretariat by GPCL in
the study case for the affair of Electricity rates of GUVNL and the
licensees.
For the development of Gujarat Power Sector by the
State Government, the Asian Development Bank has granted the
sanction for loan and of Rs. 350 million Dollars.
With a view to provide
expertise guidance to the state
Govt. in the policy matters and project affairs involved therein,
the technical secretariat has been made operational in this
corporation. For the expenditure thereof, Rs. 8.58 lac has been
sanctioned by December, 2001 from the provision of Rs. 15 lac for
the year of 2001-2002. The provision for Rs. 25 Lacs has been
proposed for the year of 2002-2003. The corporation has also been
assigned the function pertaining to technical assistance for
educating awareness among the consumers with the mean of improvement
programmes under ADB aid.
Gujarat Power Corporation has played key-role in the
investments being made in the Gujarat State. GPCL has been
successful to receive investment of appro. Rs. 243 Crores in the
various power stations till today. In which it includes lignite
based power stations i.e. Mangrol at Surat District, Akri Mota at
Kutch District and Ghogha at Bhavnagar District. It includes the gas
based power station at pipavav, gas based power station at Paguthan
and Hazira and Mega power station at pipavav in gas/Neptha Residuary
based power stations. |
